Business Challenge
This not-for-profit grassroots political organization seeks to educate the public and put pressure on politicians for change. The association needed a way to have its hundreds of grassroots volunteers enter information on the donors they recruited, and they also needed a way to get the actual database into the field wirelessly, so they would not have to enter information in one place and re-enter it later. Because security and privacy is important, the volunteers needed to only be able to see the donor names they entered, while management needed to be able to see all donors. Management also wanted to be able to send out generic email blasts while the grassroots volunteers worked with donors on an individual basis, which made it critical to be able to quickly find information and documents that had been sent out to specific individuals or groups.
Solution
HighTower implemented NetSuite to provide the organization with an ability to work off of a single system. NetSuite would allow management further insight into various activities so that they could clearly see what the field was doing.
Results
The grassroots volunteers each had a profile set up for them that allowed them to see all of the donors they entered and all of the activity associated with them, but not donors generated by other volunteers. They were also able to enter information into the system just one time using wireless laptops vs. manual duplicate data entry. The SaaS (software as a service) environment enabled the organization to increase or reduce the number of licenses they needed based on the number of volunteers they had at any given time.
